The New Room 2

We are 5 & 6 year old children in Room 2. We like being in Room 2. Some of us shifted into Room 2 this term and we have caught up with our old friends from Room 1. Some of the old Room 2 children have moved to Room 3. Every second Wednesday Mrs Chambers teaches us while Miss Harrold is testing other children.
We like playing with the equipment, the games and the animals. We like doing maths and reading.

27th May.
Today we had some more of our class story about the Far Away Tree. The children and Moon face went to the land of dreams. The sandman threw sand in their eyes and they all feel asleep apart from Silky the fairy.
She used some magic cream to whiz away the bed they were on so they could get back down the tree. We like the story about the tree very much. We listen to a chapter every day.

22nd May
Today after school we go over the road to play a game of rugby. Mr Barns coaches us, we play for 1 hour at practice We play our games on Saturday and they last for 2 hours. We like playing rugby and we are in the same team.

20th May 2008.
Today we went out in the playground to look for rubbish .We emptied our bags onto an old curtain and sorted the rubbish into piles of paper, compost and plastic.

Today it was our turn to share in assembly. We took our autumn leaf poems and we sang our autumn leaf song.
Room 2

Today it was Families day. At our school we celebrated by inviting parents to come to school and share our day. We had Jump jam, a whole school technology challenge, a rippa rugby game against the parents and teachers, a sausage sizzle and games in the afternoon. It was awesome.

Tuesday 13th May.

Today we stuck our poems on a leaf shape. We could choose between yellow, orange and red. We both picked yellow to stick our poems on.

Monday 12th May.

Today we have been over on the field looking at leaves. We played with them, we threw them up in the air and we listened to the sound they made. They fluttered down and it was fun .The colours of the leaves were crimson, gold and bronze and they also made a crackling sound when we jumped on them. This afternoon we are going to write some poems about them.

Thursday 8th MAY

Today we have been printing some leaves onto paper to make a pattern .We used black, red ,yellow ,green and brown for our leaf prints then we sprayed blue or green dye over them .We got the leaves from outside ,they had to be different shapes and sizes.

Wednesday 7th May.

Today we went to the library to choose some new books to take home. Charlie and Sheryl chose some new books for our class.
We are practising for our cross country competition most days. We run around the playground and the footpath .We have to wear our bus vests to help keep us safe when we go on the footpath.

Wednesday 16th April
Today Ricky and Sam and Jarrad and Adam and Callum plated soccer. Sam and Ricky won th game and Sam won the second game.

Tuesday 15th April.

Today we read “Grandma Mcgarvey Takes A Dive”. It was a very good story. It was about Grandma Mcgarvey going bungy jumping. It is a rhyming story and at the end she got a tee shirt saying Grandma Mcgarvey- Queen of the skies.
In the story her glasses fell off and she swung from side to side above the river. In the story she also went swimming and she dived from the highest jump and she made a big splash.
We like Grandma Mcgarvey because she is cool and funny.

Monday 14th April.

Today in Maths we were learning about adding more to a number to get the answer. It was fun. We also started to talk about our assembly part on Friday , we are going to talk about our Blog and our electronic books.

Today we played a trust game in keeping ourselves safe.
It was fun but some people thought it was scary because they might of bumped into a pole or another person.

Today we finished writing our letters to Harold.
We also went to the library, we got out 2 books each and we talked about what we can do in the library. I got a book out about a kiwi -Emily.

Today we did jump jam in the hall .We danced to crazy frog it was fun. We wrote letters to Harold to say what we liked and what we learnt. I liked when the stars came out and I learnt about muscles.

Today we finished making our cats. They were fun to make out of boxes. We painted them black, yellow and white and we made the whiskers and ears out of paper. We stuck the eyes on too.

Today we made finger puppets, it was kind of hard. Tomorrow Constable Meg is coming to tell us about keeping ourselves safe and saying no.
We also made dragons and robots out of paper shapes in Maths time.

Monday 31st March

Today we talked about keeping ourselves safe and what to do if we feel scared. We looked for hazards at school. Some of them were staples on the floor, running in class and the road outside our school.

Friday 28th March.

Today we went to see Harold the giraffe. We saw Harold’s friends. We got to have a pat of the puppets who are Harold’s friends. We saw a movie about Harrold and his friends at the park. He taught us how to stay safe and how to be a friend. We like going to see Harold and Lisa. It is fun.

Thursday 27th March

Today we went to see Harold the giraffe. We learnt how to keep healthy, to be safe and we’re all special. Harold sang us a song about just being me. We also watched a movie about being me. We both liked Harold very much. He was funny.
We also got a book from Harold about being healthy, playing with our friends and keeping safe.

Thursday 20th March

Today we made Easter baskets and we made Easter buns because it is nearly Easter. We made the buns out of flour, sugar and fruit and yeast. It was good fun and we got to take our buns home. We like Easter cos we get lots of chocolate.

Today we have done things about bugs and insects . We did graphs in Maths to show what the favourite insects of the class were. The favourite insects were praying mantis and then butterflies.

Today we went swimming. We just played in the water today with the floats and noodles.
We also went to jump jam this morning. We had funky music and we pretended to play guitars.
We talked about keeping ourselves safe this afternoon and drew pictures of places and people we feel safe with.

Today we did some Maths. We played some Maths games on the computer and we played Space Invaders .We also made some things with clikko. We both like to play games on the computer.

Today Charlie and Sam looked for bugs. Charlie found a little spider and caught it. Sam saw a big grasshopper but he didn’t catch it.

We have been swimming today. We like swimming because we get to learn new skills in the pool. I have learnt to pick up something from the bottom of the pool-Daniel.
I have learnt to sit on the bottom of the pool-Casey.
We also have done handwriting today .We have been writing the letter t today. We also have been writing about our photos for our electronic book in story writing time.
We like school because we get to learn lots of different things.

I had a great flight up to Rotorua yesterday and I took some photos from the plane window. I hope you are having a great time with Mrs Chambers and you are looking after her.

Our favourite lessons

Today we did some of our favourite lessons. We like swimming the best, today we all tried things that we need to learn to do in the water. Daniel had to pick up a stone from the bottom of the pool, Georgia had to blow bubbles under water. We all tried really hard.
We also did some Maths today, we like Maths. We like doing the Maths games on the computer the best.

Wednesday's story time

Today we listened to the rest of the story called The Enormous Crocodile. It was about a crocodile wanting to eat six children and all his tricks to catch them. One of his tricks was to be a see- saw, another was to be a coconut tree. He also tried to look like a picnic table by hiding under the table, he put a bunch of flowers from all the other tables on his table so the children would come and sit at his table.
He didn't catch any children because all the animals who knew his plans stopped him by telling the children. At the end of the story the elephant swung the enormous crocodile around and around and then he let him go. The crocodile went flying up into space and hit the sun.
We thought this story was funny because the crocodile didn't get to eat the children. We liked looking at the pictures in the book.

Jump Jam

Today was our first day back at Jump Jam. We did Crazy Frog, the Indian song and 5,6,7,8.
We like Jump Jam because we get fitness and there's lots of songs. We do Jump Jam every Tuesday and Thursday. Sue comes in to take us for Jump Jam. On Thursday we are going to learn some new songs.

Fitness

We divided into 5 groups. The leaders got a ball so we could play tunnel ball. We played under over, change ends tunnel ball and change ends under over. It's fun playing because the person at the back gets to run and then be at the front. We learn to work together and makes friends with the people in our team.

Smart Chute

We played a game of smart chute. It was fun. When we put a card in the top, it goes down and turns over. The picture turns over and shows us the letter it begins with.

We play this game at reading time.

Our first day back at school

We are Room 2 at Dunsandel School. We are 5 & 6 year olds. Today we did some painmting with our hands and our feet. We made patterns with them. We found out that the lines on our hands and our feet are different from everybody elses.

We learnewd about other people and how to make friends.
